*[SQAS Archery] SQAS Team Selection Policy 2016*

Hi Clubs,

Please find attached the SQAS Team Selection Criteria for 2016.

This document covers selection of our youths for the Youth Nationals 2016,
the team for the Nationals 2016, and the selection of youth or seniors for
the SQAS team for the Indoor Nationals 2016.

SQAS for 2016 will be using Archers Diary ranking lists for selection
purposes, so it is important that archers scores are entered into AD so
that they have an opportunity to be considered.

The National Ranking List contains scores from all AA registered
Tournaments and QRE’s, whereas the RGB Ranking List contains other
non-registered events.

As in past years SQAS will be providing generous funding/shirts/team
patches for teams in accordance with the policy document.

In some areas the policy has been relaxed about the wearing of sponsors
shirts and this should encourage more SQAS members who are planning to go
to these national tournaments to become part of an SQAS Teams.

Please bring this email and the policy to the attention of all your
members. Please place on your notice boards, and web sites, and communicate
via your club email list/newsletters as we would like archers to plan ahead
to consider attending these national events.

Many thanks.

Congratulations to all our 2015 Champions. I would like to encourage
everyone to participate in the SQAS Championship events in 2016.

The SQAS annual Champions are determined by points gained for placings at
the SQAS Target, Short Range, Indoor, Field and Clout Championships. To be
eligible you *must* shoot the Target Championship and a minimum of 3 of the
remaining 4 other Championship events. Accumulated points are taken from
your top 4 of these 5 events.

*SQAS Championship Medal.*

The new SQAS Championship medal competition winner is Vaughn Pinxit. SQAS
is currently fine tuning the design and starting to gather quotes.

*SQAS Team Selection Criteria for 2016*.

The SQAS Team Selection criteria has been issued and is on the web site so
it you are interested in attending either the Nationals, the Youth
Nationals or competing in the Indoor Nationals as a SQAS Team Member have a
read, as there is generous support available for team members. Also there
has been some relaxation on the wearing of sponsor’s shirts so now you may
be able to be on the SQAS team and still be sponsored by a supplier. To be
eligible for selection you need to shoot in certain events and have your
scores recorded in Archers Diary as the Ranking List in AD is going to be
used for selection purposes.

The SQAS committee has decided that it will provide some financial support
for SQAS archers who are selected by AA to represent Australia at World
Championships, and archers in this category are invited to apply in writing
at the time of selection.

*SQAS Silver Arrow Guidelines*.

The SQAS Silver Arrow guidelines have also been released and are on the
SQAS web site. The Silver Arrow is an interclub competition shot generally
in what once would have been called a β€œpostal shoot”. This interclub is in
Target, Indoor, field, and clout archery. So please participate in these
events hosted by your club or SQAS and let the friendly inter club rivalry
begin.

In 2016 the SQAS Committee has recommended the fees charged by clubs for
QRE’s be set as – All divisions/all ages – QRE target single rounds 720
$15.00, and QRE target double 720 and 1440 round $20.00, QRE field $15.00.

*SQAS Calendar 2016*

*Youth Coordinator and Web Master.*

Newly appointed officers for SQAS are Di Strickland as Youth Coordinator
with Jarryd Greitschus assisting, and Vinnie Bleakley as SQAS Web Master,
and you can contact them from the links/email address displayed on the SQAS
web site. A very big thank you goes to Dave Sutton who is leaving the role
of Youth Coordinator and to Michael Schilling leaving the role of Webmaster
for their hard work and dedication over the years.

*A message from the Youth Coordinator*.

1. Jarryd & I are very excited to be part of SQAS in the Youth Co-Ord
role.
2. We are working in the back ground to deliver some information packs
early in the year for archers and families that are attending the Youth
Nationals 2016.
3. Would like to have an idea of who will be coming to the Orientation
day and also who may be attending the youth nationals –– please email me if
you are thinking about either one of these events.
4. Can’t wait to jump into Youth activities early Jan 2016 – Di & Jarryd

I would like to remind clubs to undertake their annual risk audits and
assessments. Also please check your Blue card register to ensure that those
club officials that need them have Blue Cards and that the cards are still
current.

All clubs/archers please try and use Archers Diary regularly. Archers who
are coming to shoots where AD is being used to score directly at the target
are experiencing some problems with the new technology because they have
not been exposed to AD in their clubs to become familiar with it.

Everybody have a safe and happy Christmas and wishing you all the best for
2016.

Alison Hagaman,

SQAS President.
